Create a Post

When to create a new post:

  • When providing a new type of unit your shelter hasn’t provided before.
  • When there is no existing post for a type of unit you provide.

Required information when creating a post:

  • Unit type (Beds, Rooms, Parking Spaces, Motel Vouchers, Houses, etc.)
  • Number available.
  • Target Population (Single Man, Single Woman, Couple, Family, Man with Children, Woman with Children)
  • Name of shelter*

* If your shelter is not listed, please contact an Administrator.

How to create a new post:

  1. Click on the name of your shelter under “Sort by Shelter”, on the right. This will show a list of existing posts for that shelter.
  2. Make sure there isn’t an existing post for the unit you’re adding.
  3. Click +New, then Post in the dark gray bar at the top of the page. This will show a blank form.
  4. Click Screen Options in the upper-right corner of the page. This will open a dropdown menu.
  5. Make sure Custom Fields is checked. Do not make any other changes in this dropdown.
  6. Click Screen Options again to close the dropdown.
  7. Click the title bar near the top of the page, under “Add New Post”.
  8. Enter the unit type and shelter name, using the following format: {Unit Type}{Shelter Name}
  9. Scroll down to the “Custom Fields” section.
  10. Click the dropdown list under “Name”, then choose Available.
  11. Click the text box under “Value”, then type the number of available units.
  12. Click the Add Custom Field button under “Available”.
  13. Under “Categories” on the right, check the name of the shelter.
  14. In the same menu, check the demographic(s) the unit serves.
  15. Under “Publish” in the upper-right corner of the page, click the Publish button. A message will appear at the top of the page stating that the post was created.
